This service is all about supporting young people through everyday events and stress, enabling them to have positive mental health and wellbeing. I aim for a world where no young person feels alone with their mental health.

Every young person whose mental health ends up in crisis is a young person who has been failed. We know that the earlier young people can access the right help, the more likely it is that they can avoid these crises.

Following working with inspirational young people finding their way through life into adulthood, it became apparent to me very quickly that there is a lack of services for them to receive support from. I have great admiration for young people who are continuously learning new life skills and making new, difficult decisions everyday, dealing with pressures from external and internal sources, and generally trying to take on the world! Its a tough world for young people to navigate and it is my every intention to make this an easier challenge for them, building their confidence and setting them up for life. Whether young people need a reassuring conversation, a referral to specialist mental health support, or simply the knowledge and support of how to cope with the overwhelming feelings they might be experiencing, I will make sure that all young people get support as quickly as possible.

I have worked with young people for many years of my career, most currently working as an Independent Sexual Violence Advisor for the last 3 years, supporting under 21’s who have suffered traumatic experiences. These years specifically, have highlighted to me that there is very little support for young people in lots of different areas of their lives. The services that are available to them have other barriers to accessing them causing the young people to be delayed in support or not getting any support at all. I would like to be able to provide early intervention to teens when small matters are developing so that they do not find themselves in larger difficulties.

My main aim is to support young people in building their life skills such as confidence, positive thinking, helping them to achieve their goals, providing guidance around keeping safe, advice with friendships and relationships, online activity, and understanding mental health and trauma. I will help teens who are struggling to make decisions, feeling ‘stuck’ or unable to cope with pressures such as with peers or exams, and those who are struggling with negative thinking patterns and beliefs.

I will help to reduce symptoms of stress and other related problems, helping young people to build their resilience, help to introduce coping strategies and maximise the benefit of existing, help them to understand why we feel the way we do and work the way we do.
